Beijing was nothing but a rubble of old alleys and small streets and dilapidated apartment blocks, but today this is a city of commercial interests that has led to the birth of rapidly growing office towers, skyscrapers, shopping malls and supermarkets, colossal stadiums and lavish government buildings. With this reformed transformation one has to agree that there was a high influence of westernization in the bigger cities of China not only on the domestic front but also globally. This transformation took place after 1949 with an attempt to create profitable markets not only for consumption but also to reform it into a city of production and trade.
